Silhouette photography

Silhouette photography is when the photographers subject is shown dark and without detail, while the background is light. Usually the best light source to make the background light is the sun at sunrise or sunset. The backlighting from the sun shadows everything towards you and produces this effect. To take a good silhouette picture you must never point the lens at the sun. If there is too much light the subject will become to light. And if there is not enough light the photo’s background can become grey. The most important thing for a silhouette photo is making sure the background is lighter than your subject.

Cubism

Cubism is an art movement that was started in the early 20th century. It is also the first abstract art style in the modern art world. Cubism was started by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque. Another very famous cubism artist is David Hockney.  Cubist paintings are not meant to be realistic. The artist looks at the subject from all angles and pieces them together from different viewpoints. Cubism relates to photography because it is another way for the photographer to express themselves. They are able to put all the angles of their subject into one photo, which you cannot do with a regular photograph.

COMMERCIAL PHOTOGRAPHY

Commercial photography is defined as any photograph that the photographer is paid for rather than just as a work of art. It is also used to promote and sell products. The commercial photography field is very broad with room for traditional and alternative photos. Types of commercial photography are advertising, fashion and glamour, crime scene photography, food, still life, portrait, landscape, and wildlife. Advertising photography is when photographs are used to illustrate and sell a product or service. Fashion and glamour photography usually uses models to sell clothes in magazines. Crime scene photography is photographs of crimes such as murders and robberies. Food photography is like still life photography but requires a special skill. Still life photography usually depicts an inanimate object, either man made or natural. Portrait photography is usually just sold to one person. Landscape photography is when a photo depicts locations. Wildlife photography is photographs that demonstrate the life of animals.
